"Prohibition [of alcohol] was a failure in large part because it was already prevalent. Remarkably, there are people who make decisions based on what is legal and illegal. Therefore, use would increase if it [weed] were legalized.
But prohibition also shows how difficult it is to undo certain decisions. If you legalize marijuana, you may find that you don't get to change your mind later.
Overall, more people using it is not a good thing, IMO. Laws and rules should progress and point toward a more ideal condition, not the opposite. Therefore, legalization in order to avoid political headaches or create revenue is unwise and in the long-term, unproductive." -- redav
